a fine piece of work Bill!

I could write you a song
as we sit by the fire
and sing it in any
key you desire

tomorrow calls
like a plea in the night
tomorrow calls
I push it away
tomorrow calls
it won’t give up the fight
tomorrow calls
I’ve got nothing to say

I could paint you a picture
in all shades of blue
just so you know
it was painted for you

we could float on a dream
our backs to the sky
the stars up above
never wondering why

tomorrow calls
like a plea in the night
tomorrow calls
I push it away
tomorrow calls
it won’t give up the fight
tomorrow calls
I’ve got nothing to say

we could lie ‘neath the stars
the whole night through
you’d name one for me
I’d name one for you

we’d lie there until
each one of them falls
at the moment in life
when tomorrow calls

tomorrow calls
like a plea in the night
tomorrow calls
I push it away
tomorrow calls
it won’t give up the fight
tomorrow calls
I’ve got nothing to say

in the bleakness of life
where nothing survives,
we wait on tomorrow
yet it never arrives.

it is but a concept
where maybes’ exist,
where lovers embrace,
where we may have kissed.

a construct of dreams
where true loves await,
where it’s never too soon
nor ever too late.

tomorrow, a place
where nothing is grim.
where inviting waters flow,
and in them
we
swim.

When you’re young, you think you’re going to change the world. Then when you get older you’re like, “The world’s not going to change.” You can only carve out your little corner, make an impression, do good work, and be kind. But that’s about all you should want out of this world.
