on the beach

oh to drift
upon the sea
and land on distant shores
to be one with
the mysteries
of why the north wind roars
for it is true
it roars for you

lost at sea
lost at sea
that is all
some of us
will
ever
be
this is
something
I know too well
for it is where
my soul
does dwell

for there will always be
the land and
the sea
and between
the two
there is
you
and
me

“things are never as clear
as the water in this pool.
And what you think is certainty
can make someone feel the fool”.
Off in the distance,
the gulls of the sea
were laughing.
And he continued
“When you are told
you are beautiful,
and you dispute that,
you are denying
a reality. In yours
you may not be
but in someone else’s
you are”
She looked away
with downcast eyes
and replied “I am not”
“You are not what”?
“I am no such thing”,
she said softly.
“Well” , he replied
“we need to extract you
from your reality
and see if we
can make room
for you in mine”
Off in the distance,
the gulls of the sea
were laughing
